MAJORITY COUNCIL: RIKEL, SCHWING, AND ANDERSON VOTED FOR OCSD TO TAKE OVER POLICE SERVICES FOR YORBA LINDA.  IF YOU DISAGREE.... SEND THEM A MESSAGE AND VOTE THEM OUT OF OFFICE!

On November 1st, 2011, your City Council exercised the termination clause of the police services contract with the Brea PD, severing a relationship that has served Yorba Linda well for for 42 years.  Residents of Yorba Linda were given no opportunity express their opinions on the matter.

We understand the need to be prudent with public funds, but it becomes a very delicate and complicated matter when you’re dealing with public safety.

On April 24, 2012, a Public Meeting was held at the YL Community Center.  There was more than 500 community residents and business owners who attended.  98% of those attended wore "BREA YES!" buttons.  The Law Enforcement Proposals were made.

Public Comments started at 1:30 am.  99% of public made comments supporting keeping The Brea Police Deptartment.  In addition 700 residents and business owners pledged their support for keeping the Brea Police Department.  The list of names were sent to the Council prior to the meeting.

At 3:30 am, the Majority Council; Mayor Schwing, Councilmen Rikel and Anderson voted to choose the OCSD for Yorba Linda Police Services.

I'm very disappointed with our Majority Council who did not listen to their constituants who placed them into office.

If you are disappointed with the Majority Council, let the entire Council and City Manager know!

Come November, send a message to RIKEL AND SCHWING, and vote them out of office by choosing other candidates who will support their community.

Thank you Councilmen Lindsey and Winder for listening to what the communtiy wants.

Proposals to Provide Law Enforcement Services

Yorba Linda city staff is reviewing the proposals and, hopefully, will post an analysis which clarifies commonalities and differences.  We encourage you to read over the proposals and the comparison matrix now.
